Become an HPCI CIC Director

Are you passionate about SEND? Do you want to get involved in something new?

Herts Parent Carer Involvement (HPCI) is looking for three voluntary Directors to join its current Board and to grow its skill base. We meet approximately 7 times per year and donate around 4-6 hours per month. The Directors develop policy and strategic direction, rather than being involved in day-to-day operations.

We are particularly keen to hear from those with expertise in education, social care, health, HR and organisational development, marketing and communications.  And we would welcome applications from parents and carers with diverse backgrounds, varied life experiences and with different perspectives.

What we do
HPCI is a Community Interest Company (CIC) and is the parent carer forum for Hertfordshire. Formed in 2010, it is recognised and supported by the Department for Education, Hertfordshire County Council, Herts Valleys CCG and East & North Herts CCG.  The company currently consists of 7 Directors, 40 parent representatives and over a thousand members. Our members and involvement activities are growing every year.

We believe that when parents and professionals work together, better and more informed decisions are made. We hold events, webinars, train and support parent representatives and gather parental feedback on a range of relevant issues. HPCI is NOT a family support or advocacy service, or a SEND service provider – we are focused on involvement and participation.

Our trained parent carer representatives work with the local education, health and social care services and other providers to make sure the services they deliver really meet the needs of families with SEND in Hertfordshire.

The Directors provide strategic direction to ensure the goals of HPCI are realised and have the ultimate legal and financial responsibility for the organisation.

Do you want to help change happen and improve SEND services? Could your skills help HPCI?

If you are interested and want to know how to apply or for more an informal chat about what is involved, please email our Chair, Helen Errington:  Applications will close on 31 October 2021.
